Lisa Brooks - Solicitor

Lisa is experienced in undertaking major environmental due diligence investigations, and in assisting with the scoping and preparation of resource consent applications for major energy and infrastructure projects.  She has assisted in the preparation of several Environment Court hearings and with the consenting phase of novel utility projects.  Lisa’s background in environmental science and biology also gives her a strong grounding in the wider, technical aspects of resource management practice.

NOTABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Appearing in the Environment Court as Junior Counsel on behalf of New Zealand's principal heritage agency in respect of the Long Bay Structure Plan
  • Advising a major national electricity generator in relation to Waitangi Tribunal claims processes
  • Assisting in the preparation for an Environment Court hearing for a novel large format retail development in Auckland
  • Assisting in the preparation of a major banking institution’s application for the redevelopment of Auckland’s Britomart heritage area
  • Researching consenting issues, and assisting in the drafting of HSNO and resource consent applications for the construction of a novel and large scale energy development in New Plymouth
  • Assisting with complex Overseas Investment Office approval applications
  • Assisting a major rural industrial client on a prosecution for site contamination
  • Advising a range of corporate clients and investment institutions on complex Official Information Act requests and related matters
  • Researching novel climate change issues for significant industrial corporate clients
  • Undertaking major due diligence investigations for clients in the forestry, hospitality and real estate sectors
  • Drafting submissions and appeal documents for a range of corporate clients on resource consent applications and plan changes
  • Advising a private client on a complex appeal pertaining to a notice of requirement, designation and Public Works Act issues
  • Advising international clients on smoke–free legislation compliance matters, and monitoring national policy patterns and proposals for legislative change
  • Advising on liquor licensing and preparation of liquor licensing applications for a variety of clients
