ENERGY

ChanceryGreen has extensive expertise in the energy sector and in the past twelve months alone has consented 723MW of renewable energy.  Our team has amassed a comprehensive understanding of the various issues associated with all forms of electricity generation and transmission, with a particular focus on renewable energy projects.  We have successfully consented some of New Zealand’s most significant energy projects, both at the Environment Court and Board of Inquiry level.

We are completely familiar with the current statutory and regulatory environment and how they may impact our clients’ operations.  We have considerable direct knowledge of the approach and objectives of public interest bodies, private third party interests, and iwi, and we have assisted clients in developing strategies to work with, rather than against, stakeholders.

Our involvement in large-scale energy projects also means that our team members have well developed project management skills, often managing teams of up to fifty experts.  In particular, we are very used to constructively working with and co-ordinating large multi-disciplinary teams, in circumstances where significant and strategic work products must be completed in strict adherence to tight timeframes.

Our expertise covers the following areas:

  • Wind farms
  • Hydro-electric power schemes
  • Electricity transmission and capacity issues
  • LNG importation and regasification facilities
  • Thermal plants
  • Geothermal
