In early 2011, the Ministers for the Environment and Conservation called for public input on a Proposed National Policy Statement on Indigenous Biodiversity (Proposed NPS). A total of 426 submissions on the Proposed NPS are now being summarised by the Ministry. Following that, recommendations for the finalised NPS can be expected from the Minister.  If confirmed in its notified state, the document will have significant implications for councils throughout the country, as well as RMA decision-makers, private landowners and developers.
