Liquor Licensing

Lisa is an experienced resource management, renewable energy generation and climate change policy lawyer. Lisa has a strong background in renewable engergy projects, including the consenting of a 200MW wind farm project. She is one of New Zealand's leading climate change and carbon trading lawyers, and has worked closely with Karen Price on a number of novel and ground-breaking initiatives.

Lisa also advises on liquor licensing and Sale of Liquor Act matters, and is a recognised trainer in the NZQA Licence Controller Qualification.  She trains managers and arranges licensing for the country's largest hospitality provider.

NOTABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Preparing submissions for Parliamentary Select Committee hearings in respect of climate change legislation and policy proposals, including the design of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme
  • Assisting with the development and negotiation of the only two Negotiated Greenhouse Agreements concluded with the Crown
  • Advising on the legal regime to govern carbon geosequestration, and the potential for generating carbon credits for such projects
  • Advising on an application for a proposed 200MW wind farm, and representing the applicant throughout the hearing, mediation and appeal process
  • Advising on the availability of carbon credits for renewable energy generation, energy efficiency projects and forestry plantations
  • Conducting due diligence inquiries and analysis during major acquisitions and divestments of forestry, manufacturing and processing interests, and preparing vendor due diligence reports following environmental investigations
  • Appearing at Court-assisted mediations concerning policy and planning documents and resolution of resource consent appeals
  • Appearing before local authorities and the Environment Court in relation to the interface between a major coastal and forestry development proposal and applications for resource consent to undertake sand mining
  • Advising a major New Zealand infrastructure operator on transmission corridor and designation issues
  • Providing liquor licensing advice and ongoing licence controller qualification training to the country's largest entertainment and hospitality provider, and to a range of other commercial interests including international airline operators, hotel operators and wine merchants
