LIQUOR LICENSING

ChanceryGreen AnniversaryChanceryGreen has specialist expertise in liquor law, and advises on all aspects of liquor licensing matters. We provide liquor licensing advice and ongoing Licence Controller Qualification training to the country's largest entertainment and hospitality provider. We also provide liquor licensing advice to a range of other commercial interests including international airline operators, cinemas, hotel operators and wine merchants.

Jason Welsh and Lisa Daniell are accredited with the NZQA, and regularly hold training sessions necessary for applicants to obtain General Manager certification.

We provide strategic advice on the most effective licensing arrangements for a variety of industry sectors, and have considerable experience in overseeing day-to-day liquor licensing operations, including:

  • Obtaining premises licenses and renewals / redefinitions of those licences
  • Preparing and obtaining special licences and temporary authorities - often at short notice, or on an urgent basis
  • Assisting applicants to obtain General Manager certificates including training, and preparation of applications and renewals
  • Providing substantive legal opinions on all matters connected with liquor licensing
  • Appearing before the Liquor Licensing Authority in relation to contested applications

In addition to liquor licensing, ChanceryGreen advises on the related issue of gambling. We advise on compliance issues, and have acted in connection with investigations by the Department of Internal Affairs. For assistance with liquor licensing or gambling law issues, please contact Karen Price or Jason Welsh.
