Lisa Brooks - Solicitor

Kathleen is experienced in conducting complex environmental due diligence investigations for major acquisitions and divestments.  She has assisted in the preparation of several Environment Court hearings, and has experience in advising on energy sector, infrastructure projects, and large scale development proposals.

NOTABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Appearing as Junior Counsel before the Auckland Regional Council to successfully obtain an air discharge consent for a major agrichemical manufacturer
  • Preparing submissions for a Parliamentary Select Committee Hearing regarding the Waste Minimisation and Solids Bill
  • Providing liquor licensing advice, including preparing liquor licensing applications, to a range of commercial interests including international airline operators, hotel operators, hospitality and entertainment providers, and wine merchants
  • Drafting submissions on behalf of New Zealand’s only fuel refining company in respect of the Waitakere City Long Term Community Plan
  • Advising a national power-generation company in respect of a significant proposed wind-farm development
  • Assisting in advising a major multinational oil industry entity in obtaining resource consent for a new-build service station, including filing an appeal to the Environment Court
  • Working on resource management applications and consenting issues for the construction of large-scale windfarms, hydro-electric power stations, and childcare facilities
  • Drafting submissions and appeals for a range of corporate clients on resource consent applications and plan changes
  • Conducting environmental due diligence on acquisitions in respect of a wide range of sectors, including forestry, hotels, transport interests, and heavy industrial chemicals
  • Assisting with complex Overseas Investment Office approval applications
  • Researching complex legal issues relating to a plan change for a major Auckland industrial project
  • Advising a private client regarding potential judicial review actions in relation to a granted resource consent
  • Advising international clients on smoke–free legislation compliance matters
